Verisign raises the .net wholesale price to $12.00 from March 1, 2027
Verisign told ICANN on August 27, 2026 that .net will cost registrars $12.00 a year from March 1, 2027, up from $10.91. It covers registrations, renewals and transfers.

Verisign, the registry that runs .net, notified ICANN on August 27, 2026 that its fee for each year of a .net domain will be $12.00 from March 1, 2027 at 05:00 UTC. The fee applies to new registrations, renewals and transfers between registrars. Today’s fee, in effect since February 1, 2024, is $10.91, so the rise is $1.09, or about 10%.
What changes
| Fee per year | Now | From March 1, 2027 |
|---|---|---|
| Verisign .net fee | $10.91 | $12.00 |
| Porkbun .net, regular price | $12.52 | $13.65 (estimate) |
The $12.00 is what registrars pay Verisign. The notice says it excludes other fees, including ICANN’s own per-year fee. ICANN’s current .net fee schedule adds $0.75 on top of today’s $10.91, for $11.66 a year in total.
Registrars set their own retail prices. Porkbun’s price-change page estimates its .net price at $13.65 from March 1, 2027, against $12.52 on its .net page today. Porkbun calls the figure an estimated projection that may end up slightly higher or lower.
.com goes up first
This is separate from the .com increase. Verisign announced on April 23, 2026 that its .com fee rises from $10.26 to $10.97 a year on November 1, 2026. Porkbun lists an estimated $11.81 for .com from that date, up from $11.08 today.
What to do
If you own .net domains, check what your registrar charges to renew and when your names expire. Porkbun’s advice is to renew for the maximum term, usually 10 years, before an increase date to keep the current price as long as possible. For .net that date is March 1, 2027; for .com it is November 1, 2026.
