Google Workspace adds Gmail's AI Inbox and Gmail Live to paid plans
From October 15, 2026, Google is rolling out AI Inbox (to-dos and topic summaries) and Gmail Live voice search to paid Workspace plans, for US users with English (US) set.

Google said on October 15, 2026 that two Gemini features in Gmail are rolling out to paid Google Workspace plans: AI Inbox, which pulls to-dos and summaries out of your email, and Gmail Live, a voice search for your inbox on phones. Both are limited for now to users in the US whose language is set to English (US).
What AI Inbox does
AI Inbox has two parts. Suggested to-dos pick out action items, deliverables and deadlines from email threads. Topics to catch up on summarize your most important threads, including recent decisions and status changes. Users open it from the menu in the Gmail desktop client or the mobile app.
Google’s post lists Business Starter, Standard and Plus, Enterprise Starter, Standard and Plus, AI Pro for Education and Frontline Plus. A note at the end of the same post says AI Inbox will reach Starter and Education editions later, “in the coming months,” so Starter customers may not see it yet. There is no admin control to switch AI Inbox off.
What Gmail Live does
Gmail Live is a voice search for the inbox on Android and iOS. It answers out loud and shows the emails it used as source cards, and users can choose a voice. Google lists Business and Enterprise Starter, Standard and Plus among the eligible plans. It is on by default for organizations that have Gemini in Workspace, and admins can change Gemini feature access in the Admin console.
Rollout dates
| Feature | Rapid Release domains | Scheduled Release domains |
|---|---|---|
| AI Inbox | From October 12, 2026 | From October 26, 2026 |
| Gmail Live | From October 15, 2026 | From October 15, 2026 |
Each rollout is gradual and can take up to 15 days to show up for every user.
Who is affected
Small businesses on Google Workspace in the US get both features on their current plan. Neither post mentions an extra charge or a price change. Teams outside the US, or with another language set, do not get either feature yet.
What to do
If you manage a Workspace account, tell users the features are coming. Since AI Inbox has no admin switch, check your organization’s policy on AI summaries of email before the Scheduled Release date of October 26.
