8 GoDaddy alternatives (2026): domain registrars compared on .com renewal prices
Spaceship, Cloudflare, Dynadot, Porkbun, Namecheap, NameSilo, Hover and Squarespace Domains compared with GoDaddy on .com first-year and renewal prices, free privacy, transfer costs and the catches.
GoDaddy is the biggest name in domains (it calls itself the world’s largest registrar), and it bundles a website builder, hosting and email around them. Its .com offer looks unbeatable: $0.01 for the first year.
Read the terms. That price needs a three-year purchase, so you pay $45.99 upfront, and the .com then renews at $22.99 a year. GoDaddy’s prices exclude taxes and fees, including ICANN’s. Domain privacy is free.
So we compared eight registrars on what a .com really costs: the first year, every year after, transfers, free privacy and the catches. Every price comes from each registrar’s own site, in US dollars, checked on October 18, 2026.

For most people, Spaceship is the cheapest place to keep a .com: $8.88 for the first year and $9.98 a year after that (plus ICANN's $0.20), against GoDaddy's $22.99 renewal, with free domain privacy.
