Apple cuts App Store commission in Taiwan from 30% to 26% on October 31
From October 31, 2026, Apple takes 26% instead of 30% on standard In-App Purchase and paid app sales in the Taiwan App Store, after talks with Taiwan's Fair Trade Commission.

Apple will lower its commission on the Taiwan storefront of the App Store from 30% to 26% on October 31, 2026. The new rate covers standard Apple In-App Purchase and paid app transactions on iOS and iPadOS. Apple announced the change on October 29 and says it follows discussions with the Taiwan Fair Trade Commission.
What changed
| Taiwan storefront, iOS and iPadOS | Before Oct 31 | From Oct 31 |
|---|---|---|
| Standard In-App Purchase | 30% | 26% |
| Paid app transactions | 30% | 26% |
Apple has also revised the Apple Developer Program License Agreement “to support updated policies.” Developers can accept the new terms by signing in to their account. Apple says a Traditional Chinese translation of the notice is available now and that translations of the updated agreement will follow on the Apple Developer website within one month.
Who it affects
Any developer who sells a paid app or In-App Purchases to customers on the Taiwan storefront. That includes US developers whose apps are on sale worldwide, not only developers based in Taiwan. Sales on every other storefront are not part of this notice.
What Apple doesn’t say
The notice covers the “standard” rate only. It does not mention the reduced rates for the App Store Small Business Program or for subscriptions after their first year, so it is not clear whether those rates also change in Taiwan. It also doesn’t describe what the “updated policies” in the revised agreement are, and it says nothing about macOS, tvOS or other platforms’ stores.
What to do
You don’t have to do anything to get the lower rate. Apple says signing the updated terms by October 31 is not required to receive it from that date. You should still read the revised agreement when you next sign in to App Store Connect, since it changes policies the notice doesn’t spell out.
If you price in-app items for Taiwan separately, the 4-point cut raises what you keep on each sale at the same customer price. Check your proceeds reports after October 31 to confirm the new rate is applied. For other ways to build and ship an iPhone app, see our iOS app builders comparison.
