Replit adds Free Mode: everyday Agent work without credits on Core and Pro
Since August 18, 2026, Replit Core and Pro subscribers can use Agent in Free Mode, run on GPT-5.6 Luna, without spending credits until they reach limits that reset every 5 hours.

Replit introduced Free Mode on August 18, 2026. It is a way to use Replit Agent for everyday tasks without spending credits, available to Core and Pro subscribers until they reach their usage limits. Free Mode runs on OpenAI’s GPT-5.6 Luna.
What you get
- No credits for everyday work. Chatting, ideating and running everyday tasks in Free Mode don’t use credits.
- Limits reset every 5 hours. Once you reach your plan’s limit, you wait for the next reset.
- Core: Replit says Core subscribers can “create 30X more than before” with Free Mode, plus up to 30 hours of chat a month. The pricing page also lists up to 60 projects on Free Mode.
- Pro: higher Free Mode limits than Core. Replit doesn’t give numbers.
The other two modes
- Power Mode, formerly Economy Mode, uses cost-optimized models for everyday tasks. Replit says it performs the same as or better than Economy Mode for the same cost.
- Max Mode uses higher-performance models for complex work: larger changes, deeper reasoning and longer builds.
Agent may suggest switching to Power or Max Mode when a task becomes more complex. Replit doesn’t publish prices for either mode in the post or on the pricing page.
What the plans cost
| Plan | Price | Included toward more powerful models |
|---|---|---|
| Core | $20/mo ($18/mo billed annually) | $20 a month |
| Pro | $100/mo ($90/mo billed annually) | $100 a month |
| Enterprise | Custom | Not listed |
The pricing page shows the annual prices and says yearly billing is up to 10% off. The Free Mode post gives Core as $20 a month.
Who it helps
Free Mode is aimed at people who already pay for Core or Pro and use Agent for routine work. It is not a free plan: you need a Core or Pro subscription, and the limits apply. Replit says Power Mode costs the same as the Economy Mode it replaces.
What to do
Before you buy extra credits, check whether your routine tasks fit inside Free Mode’s 5-hour limits, and keep Max Mode for the large changes that need it.
