Zapier costs $0 for 100 tasks a month on its Free plan, and $19.99 a month for 750 tasks on Professional when you pay for a year ($29.99 if you pay monthly), as of October 30, 2026. The price then rises with your task allowance, not with features: 2,000 tasks cost $49 a month, 10,000 cost $129 and 100,000 cost $489 on Professional billed yearly. Team starts at $69 a month for 2,000 tasks and up to 25 users.

How this guide was put together: plan prices and task tiers come from Zapier’s pricing page, and the rules for counting tasks, overage and cancellation come from Zapier’s help center, all read on October 30, 2026. The Free, Professional and Team entry prices match AskGPU’s own price data for Zapier (checked October 17, 2026). We haven’t run Zaps on these plans ourselves; the per-task costs and the worked example are arithmetic on Zapier’s published numbers.

How much does Zapier cost per month?

Zapier sells four plans. The Free plan has a fixed 100 tasks. Professional and Team each have a slider of task tiers, and you pick the tier that covers your monthly usage. Enterprise is priced by Zapier’s sales team.

Plan Lowest price Tasks at that price Users What it adds
Free $0 100 a month 1 Two-step Zaps, 15-minute polling
Professional $19.99/mo billed yearly ($29.99 monthly) 750 a month 1 Multi-step Zaps, premium apps, webhooks, 2-minute polling, AI by Zapier
Team $69/mo billed yearly ($103.50 monthly) 2,000 a month Up to 25 Shared workspace and connections, SAML SSO, 1-minute polling, priority support
Enterprise Custom Annual task limit Unlimited SCIM, custom data retention, technical account manager

Paying yearly is labeled “Save 33%” on the pricing page. On the 750-task Professional tier that’s $239.88 a year, against 12 × $29.99 = $359.88 if you pay monthly, a difference of $120.

Every Professional and Team task tier

These are the self-serve tiers Zapier lists, up to 100,000 tasks a month. Tiers continue to 2 million tasks; above that, Zapier quotes a custom price.

Tasks per month Professional, yearly Professional, monthly Team, yearly Team, monthly
750 $19.99 $29.99 — —
1,500 $39 $58.50 — —
2,000 $49 $73.50 $69 $103.50
5,000 $89 $133.50 $119 $178.50
10,000 $129 $193.50 $169 $253.50
20,000 $189 $283.50 $249 $373.50
50,000 $289 $433.50 $399 $598.50
100,000 $489 $733.50 $599 $898.50

Yearly prices are shown per month and charged as one payment for 12 months. The top self-serve tier, 2 million tasks, is $3,389 a month on Professional billed yearly.

What does one task cost at each tier?

The price per task falls quickly as you move up the slider. Dividing each yearly Professional price by its tasks:

Tier Yearly price per month Cost per task
750 tasks $19.99 $0.027
2,000 tasks $49 $0.025
5,000 tasks $89 $0.018
10,000 tasks $129 $0.013
50,000 tasks $289 $0.0058
100,000 tasks $489 $0.0049

On monthly billing the entry tier works out to $29.99 ÷ 750 = $0.040 a task. The lesson for a small business: a task at the bottom of the slider costs five times what it costs at 100,000. If your usage is close to a tier boundary, check the next tier’s price before you trim workflows; the step from 1,500 to 2,000 tasks costs $10 more a month billed yearly.

What counts as a task in Zapier?

Zapier’s help center defines a task as “any successful action that runs in Zapier.” The rules that matter for your bill:

  • Triggers are free. The first step of every Zap is a trigger, and Zapier says triggers “never use tasks,” including all the polling checks. Zapier’s own example: a Zap checking an app every two minutes runs over 20,000 polls a month at no charge.
  • Each successful action is one task. A Zap that saves a Gmail attachment to Dropbox and then posts a Slack message uses two tasks per run; ten runs use 20 tasks.
  • Built-in tools are free. Filter, Paths, Formatter, Delay, Looping, Sub-Zap, Digest, Storage, Zapier Manager, Tables and Forms steps don’t use tasks.
  • Failures and tests are free. Action steps that error or halt don’t count, and neither does testing in the editor.
  • Some products cost more. Zapier MCP uses 2 tasks per successful tool call. Lead Router uses 5 tasks per lead routed. A Code by Zapier step uses 1 task with standard runtime, plus 1 task per extra 30 seconds if you enable extended runtime.

AI steps cost 1, 3 or 5 tasks a run

Since June 15, 2026, an AI by Zapier step is billed by the model tier you pick, and each tool the AI calls during the run costs the same again:

Model tier Tasks per run Per tool call Example models Zapier lists
Standard 1 Tools not supported GPT-5 mini, GPT-5.4 Mini, Gemini 2.5 Flash
Advanced 3 3 GPT-4.1, Claude 4.5 Haiku, Gemini 2.5 Pro
Premium 5 5 GPT-5.4, Claude 4.6 Sonnet, Claude 4.8 Opus
Your own AI account 1 1 Your own API key (you pay the provider)

Zapier’s help page says new AI steps on paid plans default to Premium. Its examples: a Premium step that makes two tool calls uses 15 tasks; an Advanced step with one tool call uses 6. A single run pauses for approval at 75 tasks by default. On the Free plan you can only preview AI steps on the Standard tier; you can’t publish a Zap with one. More on this change in our post on Zapier pricing AI steps by model tier.

Zapier Agents, a separate product, isn’t billed in tasks at all: it has its own activity quota (400 activities a month on Agents Free and 1,500 on Agents Pro, per the pricing page).

What does the Zapier free plan include?

Zapier’s help center lists what Free includes, in an article updated August 21, 2026:

  • 100 tasks a month, shared between Zaps and Zapier MCP actions
  • Two-step Zaps only: one trigger and one action
  • Polling every 15 minutes
  • One user
  • Unlimited Zaps, Tables and Forms, with 2,500 table records and 10 form pages per account
  • Copilot, with a daily message limit

What Free leaves out: premium apps, webhooks, multi-step Zaps, faster polling, publishing AI steps, Zap versions, autoreplay and the higher support tiers. Zapier defines premium apps as “select apps exclusively available to users on paid Zapier plans.” Free also can’t use pay-per-task billing, so Zaps simply stop when you reach 100 tasks and wait for the next month.

New accounts start with a 14-day trial of Professional with no card required. When it ends without a card on file, the account moves to Free on its own; Zapier says you won’t be billed.

Is Zapier free? For light personal use, yes: a two-step Zap that runs three times a day is about 90 tasks a month and fits. Most business workflows need more than one action, a premium app such as Salesforce, or a filter, and each of those requires Professional.

What happens when you run out of tasks?

This is where Zapier bills can surprise people. On paid plans, Zapier switches you to pay-per-task billing when you pass your tier’s allowance, so your Zaps keep running. The help center says this is on by default for accounts that joined after January 2024.

  • Extra tasks cost more than tasks in your plan. Zapier says pay-per-task billing “is charged at a higher per-task rate than your base subscription tasks” and that the exact rate depends on your plan and billing cycle; it’s shown in your Billing settings. We didn’t find the rate on a public page, so check it there before relying on overage.
  • There’s a ceiling at 3 times your tier. Zap runs stop when total usage reaches three times your plan’s task limit. Zapier’s example: on Professional 750, you get 750 plan tasks plus up to 1,500 pay-per-task tasks, 2,250 in all. Runs after that are held until the next cycle.
  • Allowances reset monthly, including on yearly plans. Unused tasks don’t roll over.
  • You can turn it off. Only the account owner can disable pay-per-task on Professional and Team. With it off, Zaps hold new runs at your limit and Zapier emails you at 80% and 100%.

If your usage regularly spills over, moving up a tier is usually cheaper than paying the higher overage rate, because each tier’s per-task cost is lower than the one below it.

Worked example: what a lead workflow costs

A small business sends every website lead to its CRM, posts it in Slack and sends a welcome email. That’s one trigger (free) and three actions, so 3 tasks per lead.

400 leads a month, no AI: 400 × 3 tasks = 1,200 tasks. That fits the 1,500-task Professional tier: $39 a month billed yearly, or 12 × $39 = $468 a year. On monthly billing it’s 12 × $58.50 = $702 a year.

Add an AI step to score each lead, left on the default Premium tier: Each run adds 5 tasks, so 400 × (3 + 5) = 3,200 tasks. That needs the 5,000-task tier: 12 × $89 = $1,068 a year billed yearly.

Same AI step on the Standard tier: Each run adds 1 task: 400 × 4 = 1,600 tasks, which needs the 2,000-task tier: 12 × $49 = $588 a year.

The model tier alone moves this workflow’s bill by $480 a year. If the AI step also called two tools on Premium, it would use 15 tasks a run instead of 5, and 400 × 18 = 7,200 tasks would need the 10,000-task tier at $129 a month.

Three people sharing it on Team: Professional is for one user. If three staff need to edit these Zaps, the Team tier for 2,000 tasks is $69 a month yearly, 12 × $69 = $828 a year, and covers up to 25 users.

How does Zapier compare with Make and n8n on price?

Make and n8n count usage differently, so their entry prices buy more runs for the same money. From AskGPU’s price data (Make checked October 18, n8n October 17, 2026):

Tool Free Entry paid plan What the allowance measures
Zapier 100 tasks/mo $19.99/mo yearly, 750 tasks Each successful action step
Make 1,000 credits/mo Core $12/mo yearly ($16 monthly), 10,000 credits Credits per module run
n8n Cloud No free cloud plan (self-hosting is free) Starter €20/mo yearly, 2,500 executions Workflow executions

The three-action lead workflow above uses 1,200 Zapier tasks for 400 leads. On n8n Cloud it’s 400 executions, inside Starter’s 2,500, since n8n counts a run of the workflow rather than each step. Make’s credit rules depend on the modules you use, so compare against your own scenario with Make’s calculator. Zapier’s case is its app catalog (the site lists 9,000+ app connections) and the simpler editor; whether that’s worth the gap depends on the apps you need. Side-by-side tables: Make vs Zapier and n8n Cloud vs Zapier. If you’re comfortable running a server, self-hosting n8n removes the per-run fee entirely.

What to watch for

  • Monthly billing costs 50% more. Every monthly price is 1.5 times the yearly one ($29.99 vs $19.99). The yearly plan is paid up front.
  • No refunds. Zapier’s cancellation help page says “Zapier subscriptions are non-refundable.” Cancel by switching to the Free plan; you keep paid features to the end of the billing cycle.
  • Overage arrives after you cancel. Pay-per-task charges from your last cycle can still be billed after you downgrade. On yearly plans, overage is charged monthly.
  • The 7-day re-trial needs a card. Unlike the first 14-day trial, a returning user’s 7-day trial upgrades to a paid plan automatically unless you cancel.
  • AI steps default to the most expensive tier. Check each AI by Zapier step’s model tier; Premium uses five times the tasks of Standard.
  • Prices are set in US dollars. Zapier converts other currencies at the exchange rate at payment, so a non-USD bill can vary between cycles.
  • Upgrades are immediate, downgrades wait. An upgrade takes effect right away and is prorated; a downgrade starts at the end of the cycle.
  • Nonprofits get 15% off any paid plan, excluding pay-per-task charges, according to the pricing page FAQ.

Which Zapier plan should you choose?

  • One person automating a few personal tasks: Free, if each Zap is one trigger and one action and you stay under 100 tasks a month.
  • A freelancer or solo founder with multi-step workflows: Professional at the lowest tier that covers your actions, billed yearly once you know your volume. Start on the 14-day trial and read your task usage before you choose a tier.
  • A small team sharing Zaps and app connections: Team. It costs $20 a month more than Professional at 2,000 tasks ($69 vs $49 yearly) and adds shared workspaces, shared connections and up to 25 users.
  • Workflows with AI steps: budget 1, 3 or 5 extra tasks per run for each AI step, plus the same per tool call, or connect your own AI account at 1 task.
  • High volume on a tight budget: price the same workflow on Make or n8n first. See all options on the automation hub.
