Claude Max and Team plans now include $100 to $500 a month in API credits

On October 7, 2026, Anthropic started adding monthly API credits to its Claude Max and Team subscriptions. The credits pay for your own apps and agents on the Claude Platform, separate from chat usage in the Claude apps. They rolled out over a few days and must be claimed once.

Anthropic’s example: a team with three Standard and two Premium seats gets $260 a month.

What they cover, and what they don’t

The credits work with any Claude model through the Claude API (Messages and Message Batches), the Console playground, Claude Managed Agents and the Claude Agent SDK. They don’t cover interactive Claude Code in the terminal, an IDE or the desktop app, extra usage in the Claude apps, or Claude through Amazon Bedrock, Google Cloud or Microsoft Foundry.

At Anthropic’s API prices, $100 buys 5 million output tokens on Claude Opus 5.5 ($20 per million) or 200 million on Claude Haiku 5.5 ($0.50 per million, for prompts up to 100,000 tokens).

The rules

• Credits expire at the end of each billing cycle. Nothing rolls over.
• You must have been on an eligible plan for seven days before claiming.
• You claim them on claude.ai in a web browser, under Settings > Billing (Max) or Organization settings > Billing (Team), by linking one Claude Console organization. The link can’t be changed without contacting support.
• When the credits run out, API requests stop unless the organization has bought credits or turned on auto-reload. Usage is never charged to your Claude plan.
• Monthly credits are used before any credits you bought.

What to do

If you pay for Max or Team and also buy API credits, link your Console organization now; the included credits are spent first. If you use none of the API, nothing changes for you.
