Moonshot releases Kimi K3.1 Pro at $2 input, $10 output per 1M tokens
Moonshot AI's Kimi K3.1 Pro is in the Kimi API at $2 input and $10 output per 1M tokens, a third below Kimi K3. The company says full weights come by November 4.

Moonshot AI has released Kimi K3.1 Pro, which its blog calls the company’s “most capable 3T-class open-weight model to date.” The Kimi blog dates the post October 24, 2026. The model is in the Kimi API now at $2 per 1M input tokens and $10 per 1M output tokens, according to Moonshot’s pricing page. That is a third less than Kimi K3, which is still listed at $3 and $15. The blog says “the full model weights will be released by Nov 4.”
What it costs
Moonshot’s API pricing page lists these rates per 1M tokens, before taxes.
| Model | Input | Output | Cached input | 5-min cache write | 1-hour cache write |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| kimi-k3.1-pro | $2.00 | $10.00 | $0.20 | $2.00 | $4.00 |
| kimi-k3.1-pro-highspeed | $4.00 | $20.00 | $0.20 | $4.00 | $8.00 |
| kimi-k3 | $3.00 | $15.00 | $0.30 | $3.00 | $6.00 |
All K3 series models have a 1,048,576-token context window. The page says context caching is billed automatically for repeated prompt prefixes, with a default 5-minute time-to-live. The API is pay-as-you-go, with no subscription.
Highspeed costs twice as much; the blog says it runs at “2-3× the speed of K3.1 Pro.”
What you get
- Two API model IDs:
kimi-k3.1-proandkimi-k3.1-pro-highspeed. - Access in Kimi.com, the Kimi apps, Kimi Work, Kimi Code and the Kimi API. For Kimi Enterprise, admins must turn it on; it is off by default at launch.
- Zero Data Retention for API customers, the blog says.
- Open weights by November 4. Moonshot has not named the license yet, so commercial terms for self-hosting are unknown until the weights are published.
Moonshot says it removed cyber-related data from training for the open-weight release. It writes that the model’s cyber capability “remains behind that of frontier proprietary models that have been publicly available for at least three months.” The benchmark figures in the post are Moonshot’s own.
Who it affects
Teams on older Kimi models have a deadline. The pricing page says that from October 31, 2026, K2 series models will no longer be available to newly registered users. Existing users are not affected for now, but Moonshot plans to retire all K2 models by the end of December 2026 and points users to the K3.1 Pro quickstart to migrate. K2.6 and K2.7 Code are listed at $0.95 input and $4 output per 1M tokens, so moving to K3.1 Pro costs more per token.
